Felt Hearts

Have I mentioned how great Pintrest is?
Alas, I have found another great project.

Looks simple, right?

IT IS!
Here are the THREE that I produced:

 start by cutting 2 strips 3" x 9"

then trimmed the ends to curves

fold in half & make the middle cut first,
then one more cut on each side of the first

KEEP THEM AS EVEN AS POSSIBLE
(this is the trickiest step)

weave together!

fill them with a double layer of quilt batting

the final step is to blanket stitch around the edges
(time consuming, but worth it!)

Fabulous home made goodness!

I nestled one in my ivy topiary!

Houndtooth Frame

I spent a whopping $1.50 at the thrift store on an ugly frame.  It was just what I needed to try out my new houndstooth duck tape!

AFTER:

It's like they say "you can fix anything with Duck Tape".

I used glitter scrapbooking paper & cut "love" on my Cricut using the Opposites Attract cartridge.  I adhered the white cardstock word with tacky glue.

Birch Hearts

Here is another birch bark banner.  This time they're hearts, strung on hemp twine!  I wanted to hang them along the top of my huge book case, but they found their way to my craft booth (for sale).  Maybe I'll have time to make another batch.   I did drape them across my window & snap a picture to share with you.

Do YOU decorate for Valentines Day?  It's one of my favorite holidays, and close to my birthday!

Vintage Building Blocks

What do you do with old toy blocks?

If they're cute, make them into photo holders.  This is an inexpensive project & takes very little time.  Can you see a vintage decor nursery with the most current pictures of a little toddler on these old blocks?

Theses are for sale in my craft booth & I thought an obvious label would help folks visualize.

If you didn't like one side, you could just flip it around!

The Memo Pins are made by Tim Holtz brand.  I pushed them in as far as I could bare handed. Quick, easy, cheap!

Special Order

I had a special order for a fabric banner.  The sweet little boy fabric went well with my twill ribbon. She requested 7 pennants, but it was so short that I added two.

It's hard to tell far away, so here is close up of the marble print.

It took me second try to get the shadows running the right way!

I love the frogs, baseballs, wagon, drum & football pattern too.

I think baby Colton will like it!

FENCE

MY FATHER-IN-LAW (NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR) HIT OUR OLD FENCE POST WITH HIS TRACTOR & SNAPPED IT CLEAN OFF. AFTER ASSESSING THE DAMAGE, THE POST CAME BACK UP TO THE HOUSE WITH ME.  IT SAT, LEANING AGAINST THE DECK FOR A FEW WEEKS.  THEN, BEFORE THE WEATHER TURNED BAD,  I GAVE IT A NEW LIFE!

I FILLED A COFFEE CAN WITH MORTAR CEMENT.  ONCE THAT WAS FULLY CURED, I WRAPPED IT IN BURLAP AND TIED IT WITH TWINE.

NOW, THAT DRY SILVER WOOD CAN FOREVER BE PRESERVED & ENJOYED FOR YEARS TO COME.  THE RUSTY WOLF WAS BOUGHT IN OREGON YEARS BACK, WHEN WEIRD HAROLD WAS SELLING PLASMA CUT CREATIONS.  THERE ARE TWO OTHER POSTS STILL STANDING BY OUR DRIVEWAY.  ONE HAS A QUAIL & THE OTHER A STANDING BEAR.

String Snowman

I've seen the snowmen made from balls of string around quite a bit, even Pintrest.  So without much intro, here is my newest creation. . . .

I used a hot glue gun to stack the string.  Then I also hot glued buttons on.  Small screwdriver sized holes were poked into two sides of the middle string sides for stick arms to slide in.  A strip of fabric was cut and the ends were fringed.  The eyes are brads.

Can you guess what the hat is from?

A toddler's sweater arm!  It was a ratty old faded sweater in a box of garages sale clothes.  I cut about half the arm length off, tied string around the rough end and turned it inside out!

This happy little winter guy is available in my booth!

Burlap Banner

Burlap can a bit tricky to work with.  If you can get it just right and then carefully place it somewhere & enjoy it's imperfect beauty, that's the ticket.

I am a banner FREAK.  No curtains in my house, just a few quaint banners strung here & there.

For this one, I used my Cricut machine & cut adhesive vinyl out and painted some snowflakes on with Acrylics.

It will be interesting to see if it sells from my booth, when the big storm hits!  That is. . . IF we ever a get a big one!  We are desperate for snow in Minnesota.  No snowshoeing, no snowmobiling, no skiing, no sledding, and no snowmen.  The only good thing is the ice on our lake.  We've only plowed it once!

Are YOU enjoying winter?
