Garden Mirror

I have a Pinterest copy to share today.
The garden phrase on a mirror
seemed like a dandy home decor sign.
Plus it makes me feel so lovely,
since my gardens are a huge part of my life!

I used adhesive vinyl that was cut on
my Cricut machine.  Notice the two different
letter fonts & adorable rose decal.
The mirror was left over from a project
where I just needed the frame.
The wood is actually chippy siding off
a house a friend tore down.
It's slightly imperfect, but good practice with
my stash of reclaimed wood.

Here are a few spring pictures of my garden:

Now that summer has officially arrived,
I will be moving my pansy containers to a
slightly shady location & trimming some back.

I'll be moving Celosia pots onto my south facing deck
which will take the heat well, along with my Mandevilla.

If you love gardening, keep checking my blog for some
junky garden inspiration!

DADDY VAN'S POLISH

Summer is here & it's time for some hardcore junkin'.
I've been having good luck at garage sales & thrifting.
Recently at a flea market, I scored this old Army Chest:
$15

It's complete with nicely worn edges, authentic markings,
tattered rope handles & in very good shape!

The only flaw is a little white paint splatter
on the front.

I also picked up this super cute half table:
$12

It gave me a chance to try out the Daddy Van's
natural furniture polish from my mom.

The left shows the new glow, and the right half
is the dull worn lifeless wood:

I am LOVING this polish!

Next up...
I'll never pass up an old typewriter at the right price!

This one was a STEAL!
$7

Just look at those fabulous keys!

These keys are invaluable to jewelry makers.

The smooth lines and retro pull handles
of this old desk dresser stole my heart!
As with many purchases...
I want to keep it.
My husband won't allow that.
Isn't it dreamy though???

I took Daddy Van's to this as well:

Can you see the shine???

I'm going to have to use my amateur
wood crafting skills to replace that missing
board on the inside bottom.
Oh, you almost didn't notice?
Good!

Happy thrifting this weekend!

DRAGONFLIES

A friend let me pick her junk pile a while back.
I took a fair amount of treasures home,
including two old radiator fans.

It turned out, when paired with old
table leg spindles, they made cute garden dragonflies!

My metal fan wings are a variation from
the Pinterest post using ceiling fan blades!
I will be watching for ceiling
fans at garage sales this summer.
Which one do you like better:
The Pinterest bug or my more rustic version?
