HUGE SCREEN

I'VE BEEN HOARDING A HUGE OLD SCREEN THAT
WAS PURCHASED AT A GARAGE SALE FOR $3.
IT SEEMED LIKE A LOT TO PAY,
CONSIDERING MOST FOLKS WOULD TRASH IT.
BUT I LOVED THE CHIPPY PAINT EDGES.

IT SAT IN MY BASEMENT FOR A YEAR & A HALF.
THIS FALL I DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO ADORN IT.
SO, I STITCHED ON SOME BURLAP BELLS,
ADDED A PRETTY SPRAY & BOW AT TOP,
AND TIED ON GLITTERY SNOWFLAKES.
IT ENDED UP WITH A VERY OLD TIME COUNTRY LOOK.
I THINK IT WOULD BE SO CUTE ON A COVERED PORCH,
BY THE ENTRY.

I LOVE MAKING THINGS THAT I KNOW ARE ONE-OF-A-KIND.
THE CUSTOMER THAT BUYS THIS WILL NOT
BE GETTING A COOKIE CUTTER DECORATIONS,
LIKE EVERYONE FROM WALMART!
NOPE...THIS SCREEN IS AN ORIGINAL!

I had a dream...

..no seriously!  I had a dream one night about a great craft creation.  The best part is, it became reality.  Part of me wondered if I could pull this one off.  Are you curious what it is?

*~*~*~*~*~* Icicle curtain valance *~*~*~*~*~*

Now, before you start thinking elaborate...stop.  I am NOT the best seamstress.  I do dabble.  This project was a success due to one simple key factor.

NO

STRAIGHT

LINES!

If only I could post the picture in my head that night I dreamt it all up.
But actually, this is pretty close to what it looked like.

I give you, my original creation:

They're so much prettier in real life.

This would look sooooo awesome under a fireplace mantle!
If only I had a mantle!

And now I'm ready for some snow to stay, here in Minnesota!

GOTH? WIRE FRAME

THIS IS MY FIRST PROJECT WITH THE FAMOUS
ANNIE SLOAN CHALK PAINT!

SO FAR, I DO LOVE THE PAINT.
THIS WAS A MINOR PROJECT, SO IT'S HARD TO JUDGE.

CHECK OUT THE DARK WAX
 IN CORNERS & CRACKS!

I FOUND AN EMPTY $2.00 FRAME AT THE THRIFT STORE.
CHICKEN WIRE MAKES WORKS GREAT
FOR CLIPPING UP LOOSE PHOTOS & NOTES.

IT LOOKS A HUNDRED YEARS OLD!
PLUS IT MAKES MY OLIVE PAINT
LOOK LIKE ARMY GREEN.
IT'S A NOSTALGIC COLOR, REMINDING ME
OF MY DAD. I STILL HAVE HIS WOOL ARMY BLANKET.

I ADDED SOME BLACK TULLE
AND A LARGE PAPER TAG MADE USING A
RUBBER CLING (UNITY BRAND) STAMP.

THE LOOK I WANTED:
