I don't know about you,
but I love a good rustic sign.
It's fun to creation regional pieces
to sell at my craft booth.
The cabin & lake folks
around here love the
~UP NORTH~
theme including
anything Minnesota!
I bought these gorgeous cedar wood squares
at a garage sale for $1.50 each.
They made a good background for
my state stencils to really
stand out on, don't you think?
I added a glitter heart in the area
where most my customers
visit or live!
Moose Lake & Duluth
This white sign leaves the Minnesota
showing in wood grain form.
This is my favorite of the two signs.
Now lets look at the black sign.
It features an opposite design,
where I chose to paint in the state.
If your curious what I used for a stencil,
here's the truth.
I used tracing paper to make a outline
of Minnesota from a large atlas.
Then I used a piece of tag board to make
a reusable stencil.
The letters were made on my Cricut machine.
I cut them out on adhesive vinyl &
stenciled the words on after the states
had dried overnight.
I smeared glue over a heart
shaped stencil , pulled it off
and added some very fine red glitter.
Again, this was the last step &
all the other paint had dried overnight.
