Shabby Magazine Rack

Word has gotten out that I gladly take
discarded junk.  My aunt gave me an
outdated magazine rack from their
summer home that I saw potential in!

Here is an example of the BEFORE...

Vintage-Bentwood-Handle-Wood-Spindle-Magazine-Rack-on-4-legs-heavy

After MANY hours of tedious painting,
and three coats for good coverage...

The shabby sanded edges mask
all the paint imperfections &
gives it the appearance of many
years of use!

I think a burlap bow adds charm to
nearly everything!

Keep yours eyes peeled at garage sales &
the thrift store for these old magazine racks.
They can offer a great cottage appeal
to any home.

Junk Bonanza Purchases

I promised to share some of our
Junk Bonanza purchases from the April show.

Here are my sister's great finds...

she's going to plant flowers in this

"s" for Sarah

"e" for Evelyn, her daughter

These MN books were
selling like crazy!

I bought some paper items for
crafting.

I got this player piano roll.

This calendar, almanac & herb book came
from the Picket Fence Gals.
They had great prices.

I love how the calendar shows fishing predictions!

My dad restored an '34 Nash car when I
was in high school, so I snatched up this cute
little snippet. The '79 caught my eye too
in the Hunt & Gather booth.

This shabby old box spoke to me!
I found it in a booth called Rusty Roof Barn.
She had cool stuff.  I went back for this
after looking all day.

It had condition issues.

But the shabby paint stole my heart,
and the lovely key hole.

I plan to add a latch or handle & maybe
a shelf inside.  I might even paint a word or
something on the door.  It'll be a work in progress.

It will hold something special for me,
that too has yet to be determined!

Betsy

I found the most adorable book
for only ten cents at a rummage sale.

The images are so cute from
this 1947 book called Betsy Was a Junior.
I was able to accent the black & white
illustrations with different
embellishments & using markers!
(yes, some grown-ups still like to color!)

This last one is my favorite.
It makes me chuckle.
Just the right close friend with
a sense of humor would
love this for a wedding shower card.
Don't you think???

I used Unity, Wendi V and CTMH brand stamps
 & Tim Holtz washi tape.
