Another Cedar Verse Sign

This portion of an old cedar bench has been salvaged.
It is actually the seat portion.

I used some pallet boards to brace the back.

I previously used the back rest
featuring a lovely scallop top.

I adore cedar & it was aged to perfection.
Covered in lichen from years in the elements,
a wire brush was needed to
prep it for rustic painted lettering.

This massive sign measures 2 by 3 1/2 feet!

Tree Haulers

I did up a few little rigs hauling trees.
They're so cute and my four year old
thought making these was so fun!

Santa x2

A simple .75 purchase at the thrift store
sent me home with a smile.

Great old nestled tins with the whimsical images of Santa!
The larger one I hung from burlap.
What a unique alternative to a wreath!

Custom Bells

I'm dabbling in some custom crafting.
My wreath customer asked if I'd take some
~amazing~
bells home & think of creative display for them.
It was an honor just to see them...
let alone work with 'em.

I know...
WOW, right?

Such great bells deserved my favorite frame.
I've had the old frame for a few years (hoarding),
never sure what was special enough to use it on.

It was just the right size & patina.
The fabric bow & simple berries were a
subtle addition to such grand bells.

These are the biggest bells I've every laid eyes on.
The gal said they were a gift to her,
from her son.
What a gift!!!

CAGE

Okay folks.

What is it?

$2
thrift store

I discussed it at the counter with the owner.
He elaborated explained it's great qualities
and obvious structure.
He didn't know either.
Our best guess is a bird feeder or lamp.

I can now show you what it has become!

I gave it a pedestal, using some E6000 adhesive
and an old malt glass (turned upside down).
It fit just perfectly into an indent in the bottom,
so centering it was spot on!

I finally broke out the Maya Road brand gems
that were hoarded in my trinket bin.
They gave the cage a regal touch.
The glass on top & bottom visually balanced the project out.

The birds were spray painted with a little texture.
They look pretty sweet all nestled
into their bed of boughs.

N*O*E*L

It's the most wonderful time of the year.
Christmas is a divine holiday.
I've been cranking out lots of festive decor,
focusing on one-of-a-kind creations!
(not just Pintrest ideas)

So, here is my framed NOEL hanger...

I had 7 painted dollar frames left over from
a ladies retreat craft I taught.
I thought this was good way to use some of them up.
They have burlap in them with letters cut from
shimmery cardstock.  I glued the letters on.

There was a lot of pondering on my part,
dreaming up how to attach the frames to the long strip.
My solution?
Thumb tacks.

You can pound them in with a hammer.
They lay flat against the wall too.
It worked great.

Do you like the hinge on top?
This was another engineering dilemma.
I wired the hinge on, through the weave.
