Beach Candles

Today I'm sharing a centerpiece using three old light fixture covers as beach theme candle holders.  I paid $1 for each glass cover at the thrift store.  A few strands of hemp wrapped around the tops give it a touch of charm.  Inside is white beach sand & votive.  I lacked a long tray, so a rustic barn wood board serves as the platform.

Romantic & cottage theme, don't you think?

Umbrellas!

I searched the web and found very little
on the subject of hanging umbrellas
from the ceiling.  They're popular for decorating
wedding halls & even a Vegas Hotel

I think it's dreamy & wanted to share with you
                              my small scale project.
All it took was a $10 vintage umbrella
& a ceiling hook (for hanging plants, etc).

This is my craft room.
Disastrous Messy, but still my "happy place".
The bird is a vinyl sticker
 created on my Cricut
 using Indie Art &
Accent Essential cartridges.
I love the fact that they're temporary,
since my son might end up
 in this basement bedroom someday.
A few bird sparkles add
 an inspiring magical touch,
don't you think?

                              This black umbrella is aged,
                               but a good basic color.
It's nicely domed & inside is wooden,
                            which adds to the charm.

Love umbrellas?
Here are a few more fabulous ideas!

Don't forget they make phenominal photography props!

Maybe if I do an umbrella dance,
spring will come early to Minnesota!

What Sold?

It's always fun to go check my craft booth & see what has sold!  I love primping.  At first it was akward, messing with my booth in front of all the coffee drinkers.  But now I just appreciate my prime location & accept the curious stares with pride.

Here is what sold. . .

string snowman

duct tape frame

verse sign

It's funny, just when you think something will never sell, it's gone!
I did take down all my Valentines items,
including the two decorated candles & cards.
What's next?  Easter?
Bring it on!  Yeah spring baby!

Flea Market Garden

I was so excited to purchase this magazine the other day. . .

It is still winter here, without much snow.  It's been a mild winter, but I recently got spring fever.  My seed packet order came in the mail.  Daydreams of the tulips, crocus and daffodils planted last fall are recurring!

The publication has sparked a mental list for the impending garage sale season:
porch rail spindles
old mailbox
funnel
old work boots
boat oars

What's on YOUR list?

This magazine features a few book suggestions.  All three of them were available at the local library.  My favorite was "Found, Free & Flea" about a rustic summer camp loaded in junker treasures!

I also bought one book featured in Country Living called "Aged to Perfection".  For $14, this quality hardcover book came to my front door via UPS.  I took the plunge after seeing the 5 star rating with a comment that read "not recycled photographs".

There is some good content in the book, although I haven't gotten through the whole thing.
Here are a few highlights. . .

Who wouldn't love this collection of pottery?

I'll share any tidbits of knowledge from it when I'm through reading.
Until then, if you can't stand the wait, head over to Barnes & Noble!

Would You Buy It?

I should have bought them.  You know the feeling, utter regret?  They were under $10 and now they're gone.  Yellow. . . YELLOW ice skates.  Retro, vintage, old skool, antique. . . call them what you want.  I shoulda woulda coulda.  Now they're gone.
